Why discourage Cellphone use?   Not to pontificate (we're about to pontificate), but cellphones have gone far past being the simple tools of their humble flip-phone origins (ah, the good ol 'days); they have become a deeply complex means for corporate (& sometimes political) entities to manipulate and profit off our valuable attention. What this means on an existential level is that the tool which modern life essentially forces us to rely on has now become a chain tied to our ankles, pulling us further and further away from the reality before us-- the one that exists in the here and now, where true freedom is found. The barbershop should be a place to celebrate this freedom: a place for community-building and meaningful conversations; a place to relax and jest and make light of the world; a place to fortify the very human spirit, dammit! But for this to be possible, it requires our full presence in the space. This is why we ask all clients to please consider putting away their cellphones while waiting for their haircuts (of course, you are a grown adult with free will, and ultimately, your choice will be respected). Instead, you can talk and joke with your fellow humans, read one of our many books or magazines, play some games from our collection, or perhaps, even, just sit back and enjoy the ~vibes~.
